AI Platform Defending Against Generative AI-Enabled Threats

Reken, founded in 2024 and based in San Francisco, is an AI-defense cybersecurity startup focused on countering the rapidly emerging threats posed by generative AI. The company was created to address what its founders argue is the most significant security challenge of the coming decade: the accelerating gap between the pace of AI advancement and the industry’s ability to defend against AI-enabled attacks.

The Reken platform takes a layered approach to deepfake and content-integrity defense, combining “zero-trust” source analysis with technical examination of the content itself. Reken aims to determine not only whether a piece of media has been synthetically altered, but whether its surrounding context — origin, metadata, and behavioral attributes — indicates adversarial intent. This dual analysis is designed to more reliably classify AI-generated content at the same escalating scale at which criminals will deploy it.

Reken raised an oversubscribed $10 million seed round in February 2024. Greycroft and FPV Ventures were among the investors along with Firebolt Ventures, Fika Ventures,

Omega Venture Partners, Homebrew, and JAZZ Venture Partners. Greycroft partner Marcie Vu, known for helping lead Google’s IPO, joined Reken’s board.
