The Zero Trust Exchange — protecting users, workloads, and devices

Zscaler is a publicly traded cloud security company headquartered in San Jose, California, founded in 2007 by Jay Chaudhry and K. Kailash. The company pioneered Security Service Edge (SSE) and is widely regarded as a category leader in Zero Trust architecture.

Its flagship platform, the Zero Trust Exchange, brokers secure connections between users, workloads, devices, and applications without placing them on the corporate network — replacing legacy VPNs, firewalls, and perimeter-based stacks with an inline cloud service that processes hundreds of billions of transactions every day. Zscaler’s portfolio includes Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX), and a growing data protection and AI security suite.

In late 2025 Zscaler acquired SplxAI, an automated red teaming and runtime guardrail platform for AI systems, signalling the company’s strategic push into securing agentic AI workflows. The SplxAI technology is being integrated into Zscaler’s data protection and AI Guard offerings, bringing continuous adversarial testing, prompt injection defense, and policy enforcement for LLM-powered applications directly into the Zero Trust Exchange.

With this acquisition Zscaler positions itself not only as the connectivity broker between users and SaaS, but as the security fabric for the AI agents that increasingly act on their behalf.
